LUPO'S w/ WHO DEM? & STYLES P. Fri. 10.19

Hola mi gente!!!!!

What's crackinnnnnnnn?!? LOL :-) Everything is going well with me this week so far...
The fashion Show @ PEARL was cool......despite a few "snafoos" for sure! Those of you that couldn't make it, you can check out the photos @ www.riatnight.com by just entering the site & clicking on "Photos", and then PEARL on Sat. 10.13.

I don't have much going on this weekend...except for a little appearance with my boys WHO DEM? this Fri. 10.19 @ Lupo's. (79 Washington St. Providence, RI)

They're opening up for renowned hiphop artist STYLES P. along with some other acts, and they asked me to join them on stage to sing our song that's on their SwitchTape 3.0.....which by the way is HOT... and if you live in the Providence area you should definitely holla @ one of the guys and cop that!
Support your local artists in the STRUGGLE!
We're all in this together...

But other than that.....last night I saw Tyler Perry's "Why Did I Get Married?" and I thought it was FANTASTIC!!!!! Superbly written, incredibly well acted, and ultimately 100% entertaining.
I loved it! It's a definite must see...
It was refreshing to see black couples/relationships displayed on the silver screen in a "REAL" light...with positivity, love, loyalty & humor. It's not very often that we get to see ourselves on the main screen in that light, so "hat's off" to Tyler Perry for always bringing the real!

Also, I copped my girl J.LO's new cd "BRAVE" last week, which I truly enjoy! Most of my close family & friends know I love Jennifer and have always been a fan since day one.
Aside from her fresh & innovative music, I love her genuine nature and outspoken personality. She never tries to be someone or something she's not. She always "does her".....and never lets the criticism of the public or press change who she is. I admire anyone that's true to themselves, because I am 100% true to myself!
That's why I'm always reading Russell Simmon's "Do You"!!! It's the only way to live!
So you go Jennie LO, "You do it-do it, you do it-do it, you're doin' it well!!!!

So with that in mind, I'm going to leave you with my closing thought of the day:

"Always be original & authentic.
Legends aren't made through duplication or carbon copies...

Never doubt that who you are isn't 100% unique and different from anyone else in the world.

We are all individuals with distinctive differences, and it's these differences that make us stand out from the rest.
Let the people say what they will, because they'll always have something to say.

Embrace your individuality and SHINE for all the world to see!"

Peace & Blessings,

October 2, 2007

It's a Tuesday night around 10pm...not much to do. :-(

I have been really sick due to the change in weather, which has put a damper on my spirits lately.... But with the down time I've been doing lots of reading...just got a great new theater script that I'm interested in auditioning for...so I read that from cover to cover the other day in a few hours!!!! LOL .....Also been catching up on some DVD nights in bed, something I feel like I never get to do. Believe it or not, I think I'm one of the very few people who never saw Bourne Identity or Bourne Supremacy until this week!!!!! Yeah, I have a tendency to be reallllllly late with things! haha! But my mom had given me the DVD set for my birthday this summer, and this was the first opportunity I got to watch them. GREAT FLICKS!!!!! I'm all excited to go see Bourne Ultimatum @ the theater before it's gone! Everybody I know has seen it, so I'll probably go to a matinee all by myself!!!! I don't care! Gotta see it!

I also caught up on lots of rest, and some good football highlights on all the sports channels. I'm a huge NFL NET kid....and NBA TV in in a few more weeks!!!! Can't wait for basketball season to start!!! :-)

As for some other news....

This Saturday October 6th, I will be a guest host @ the Woonsocket Autumn Fest going on all weekend in Woonsocket, RI. It's always a great event for family & friends to get together and have some community fun. There will be live entertainment, food, games & more. Admission is free to the public, however it would be great if you go and purchase an Autumn Fest button for $1, and help support the festivities. I will post more details when I receive them.

As for my closing thought tonight:

"There will always be moments in life that get you down and make you feel weak, but you must always know that there's hope and strength in tomorrow." My mom always told me that "it's always darkest before the dawn"...and that can apply to any darkness in our lives, temporary or permanent. "Always seek out the light & walk towards it...and if there is no light, walk fearlessly through the dark until the light appears, because it will always appear."

Peace & Blessings,
LEX ;-)

September 25, 2007

I'm known to be a night owl....

It's almost 4am, and I'm wide awake eating my favorite candy in the whole wide world: Swedish Fish!!!!! Can't live without them, @ least once a month! LOL

Tonight I enjoyed performing with my boys of WHO DEM? (Fiyah, Fliz & 1er) @ the Providence Black Rep.....they were greaaaaaaat! Simply electric! ;-) I wish them all the success in the world and we're going to keep collaborating, making good music!

Earlier tonight I was watching the Style network--one of my favorite channels when I'm not watching NFL NET or NBA TV!!!.... And I was watching Kimora Lee Simmons' new program "Life In The Fab Lane"....FYI: Kimora is one of my favorite women in the public eye for so many reasons. She mixes sophisticated class with urban chic, and does it seamlessly....and her relentless drive & focus in her career is something I truly admire...she is a true icon of her term "FABULOSITY"! Love her!....LOL

But anyway, just watching her and the many things she does on her show always inspires me to aspire to be all that I can be, and never feel that anything is out of reach! Sure-- I'm no where near driving a customized Bentley, or purchasing a home in LA for 15 million dollars, but I believe that through hard work & perservance I will be able to achieve my own level of fabulous comfort one day!
So with that in mind, I'm inspired to come up with a closing thought to add to this entry & future entries!! Today's is:

"Never feel that anything is out of reach. Anything is attainable if you can dream and conceive it. Push to reach that highest star, for its ALL within reach."

Alexis :-)

September 21, 2007

Hey everybody!

I'm stopping in to say hi to all of you out there that visit my site.
Thanks for stopping by!!!!!

I am going to try & check in every day...... or @ least every so many days to make this something like a semi-real diary! A few of my friends made me laugh recently because they know how bad I can be with updating things--so I'm going to try & make a change with that today! LOL ;-)

As some of you know, I won the Southern New England Idol competition in RI back on August 17th. As the winner I was awarded a flight to the Philadelphia American Idol auditions on August 27th where I auditioned on a much larger scale.....

Due to legalities & issues of confidentiality, I'm unable to disclose any information on what took place in Philadelphia.

However, the show starts in January, so all questions will be answered then in front of the American viewing public...whether the outcome was good or bad.

In the meantime, thank you for all your support & warm wishes. I genuinely appreciate it!

Monday, Sept. 24th I will be @ The Providence Black Repertory Company (http://www.blackrep.org/) alongside some good friends of mine WHO DEM? (http://www.mealtix.com/) for their "SwitchTape" release party. We collaborated on a song for the "SwitchTape" cd over the summer, and I will be performing our joint that night.....come through & show some love to us local artists!

Peace & Blessings

Alexis ;-)
